motivation to climb

I enjoy life most when I move through the mountains no matter what sport I am doing whether that be skiing, running ,hiking or climbing. Climbing is my favorite way of accessing the mountains because it’s the most challenging and aesthetic. It takes you to places that no other sport ever could and forces you to respect the terrain that you’re in.

most memorable climb

My most memorable climb is Denali’s Cassin Ridge. Thousands of feet of cruiser mixed climbing and the views of the Alaska range from the upper ridge make it pretty hard to beat. It was always a goal of mine while first getting into ice and rock climbing. I had the opportunity to climb it in 2017 with great partners;  it was the best climb I have ever done.

favorite climbing spot

My favorite spot is probably lake Willoughby in Vermont. Tucked away in a remote corner of a state that is not even on most climbers radar is a paradise of steep, long ice climbs. Unpredictable weather, a southern aspect and humid air combine to create difficult ice conditions. Willoughby will keep your ego in check.

bio

I was born in Vermont and grew up skiing at a small resort where I learned to love winter at a young age. In 2010 I moved to Bozeman Montana to be around bigger mountains. I picked up climbing during college and have been inspired by it ever since. Currently I am working as a filmmaker while finishing my Masters Degree in Non-fiction filmmaking. My goal is to one day combine my passion for the mountains with my career as a filmmaker.
